The Timeless Observer: Unveiling the Profound Nature of Existence
I Am The Observer
Every morning, while the world is still at rest, I step outside into the realm of nature.
Birds chirping, trees standing tall, everything moving, yet still. The serenity draws me in. But I am not “in” nature. I am nature, and nature is in me. I find myself wondering, “Who is the one observing the world? Who is the one feeling the wind, hearing the sounds, and recognizing the silent consciousness?”
As the sun gradually illuminates the vast sky, the answer reveals itself.
I am the consciousness that observes it all.
The Illusion of Distance
Once, I believed myself to be Thomas Vik — a man born in Vennesla, now residing in Egersund.
An ex-military sergeant, a solopreneur aiding spiritual realizations, an individual with a history, and a family. But one evening, within the familiar walls of my living room, everything changed. The boundary between the observer and the observed melted away.
Suddenly, there was no Thomas. Only existence. And in that existence, there was no distance between me and the world.
All of it was just an ongoing phenomenon, dancing through me.
Beyond Time and Space
If I am everywhere and every ‘when’, what does it mean for me in this physical form, often recognized as Thomas?
In the tapestry of understanding, the boundaries of time and space unravel, threads loose and free. For many, life’s dance is from birth’s first cry to death’s final sigh. But for me, life pirouettes in endless, boundless circles. It was in the sacred hush of awakening that I touched this truth. And later, the verses of ‘The Gita’ whispered back to me, echoing my profound epiphany.
We do not traverse time and space; they flow, like rivers, through the landscape of our existence.
Put less poetically; Life isn’t about moving through time and space. Time and space move through life.
Reflection: The one observing and the observed are the same. We often trap ourselves within the confines of our physical identities, forgetting our boundless nature. It’s essential to dive deep into oneself, recognize the observer, and realize that the essence of existence lies within and beyond.
Consciousness: The Ultimate Reality
Understanding the Self Beyond the Physical
Have you ever gazed at the starry night, wondering about the vastness of the universe?
Or stood by the shore, feeling the infinite expanse of the ocean? Now, imagine feeling this vastness within yourself. In October 2019, as I sat casually watching TV, a transformative experience enveloped me. The walls of my room, the air, and the very fibers of my being seemed to blur.
I realized my existence wasn’t confined to the body or mind. It was much grander.
The Dance of the Cosmos Within
Bodies change, thoughts shift, and emotions come and go, yet the core essence remains untouched.
As I engage in my daily routines of meditation and introspection, clarity continues to blossom. This world — its people, places, and events — are merely transient phenomena. The true self is the eternal observer. I find solace in nature, connecting with its timeless beauty.
Embracing the rhythmic pulse of life around me, I continuously feel the dance of the universe within me.
Awakening to the True Self
Beyond the duties of a father, the routines of a yoga instructor, or the skills of a mindfulness coach, there exists a pure consciousness. By recognizing this, we free ourselves from the bondage of temporal identities.
Being Thomas Vik is an experience. Being the eternal observer is the reality.
Insight: You, too, can embark on a journey of self-realization. Begin by observing your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. Dive deep into meditation, connect with the core of your being, and unveil the timeless observer within.
Embracing the Observer Within
The Journey of Enlightenment
From my early days as a paperboy in Vennesla to my profound awakening in 2019, life has been a journey of incredible revelations. While the world perceives time linearly, I’ve come to understand that time is merely a construct. Life isn’t about ticking boxes — be it in professional milestones or personal achievements.
It’s about realizing the timeless essence and embodying it.
Shedding the Layers of Identity
Karate taught me discipline, the military instilled resilience, and my deep spiritual experiences opened doors to realms beyond comprehension. As these layers unraveled, I recognized my core — the observer.
I don’t move through time and space. Instead, every moment, every experience, every sensation passes through me.
Living as the Timeless Observer
As I sit here, penning down these insights, I am reminded of my mission.
A mission not just for myself, but for anyone seeking to understand their true nature. The intersection of spirituality, philosophy, and psychology provides the tools to unlock this profound truth.
Final Thought: Remember, you are not just your thoughts, emotions, or the body you inhabit. You are the consciousness that observes all, timeless and boundless. Embrace this reality, and you will truly be free.
