Embracing Jung’s Riddles: How The Gifts of Darkness Illuminate Our Path…

Imagine standing on the precipice of a vast, shadowy chasm.

From this height, the way forward is a series of dizzying bridges — fragile, swaying, uncertain. This is the terrain of our own psyche, a reflection of Carl Jung’s insights from the Red Book. It’s a dark, enigmatic realm.

But as I’ve realized, to illuminate our path, we must first understand the riddles of the shadows.

The Alluring Enigma of the Unconscious

The gifts of darkness are full of riddles.

How often have you been mystified by your own thoughts? Felt drawn to explore the cavernous depths of your psyche? The unconscious is a realm beyond logic, a domain where enigmatic riddles and baffling shadows reign. As a Norwegian, I grew up hearing tales of trolls and other mythical beings lurking in shadowy forests.

These tales, although fascinating, often left an unsettling feeling. But they provided a crucial lesson: monsters and shadows are mere illusions, and confronting them brings clarity.

We, like the explorers of old, must navigate this unknown terrain, facing its unpredictable nature head-on.

Crossing The Abyss with Patience and Perseverance

“There are dizzying bridges over the eternally deep abyss.”

In 2019, on a fateful day in October, I experienced an unexpected awakening. This was no ordinary enlightenment. It was a profound realization of my true, timeless identity. The path leading up to it? Fraught with challenges — from my battles with anxiety and depression to my moments of solitude as a sergeant skilled in reconnaissance.

Yet, each challenge became a bridge, leading me closer to understanding. The lessons from our shadows, our unconscious fears, and unresolved conflicts are the gifts of darkness Jung alludes to.

They’re not just challenges but opportunities, guiding us towards the light at the end of the tunnel.

Finding Light in the Darkest Corners

Submit to the riddles and the thoroughly incomprehensible.

When delving into non-dualism and spiritual growth, I’ve often been reminded of a scene from Moby-Dick, one of my favorite books.

The vast, unpredictable sea, much like our psyche, is both captivating and terrifying. But it’s in navigating these tumultuous waters that Captain Ahab finds his purpose, and we find ours. The mysteries of life aren’t meant to be solved. They’re meant to be lived, experienced, and embraced. As we navigate the riddles of our psyche, we gradually find our purpose.

And just as a sailor relies on a lighthouse to guide them through dark waters, our inner light shines brighter with every shadow we confront.

In Shadows, We Find Enlightenment

Endure them, the terrible ones.

Each riddle, each shadow, is an invitation. An invitation to deepen our understanding, to refine our perspective, and to illuminate our path.

As someone who’s faced the abyss, wrestled with its riddles, and emerged stronger, I urge you:

Embrace the shadows. For it’s only in darkness that we truly see the light.
